TERRIBLE customer relations.

Very difficult to work with. Not friendly. The woman on the phone was rude and got confrontational with me. She told me that perhaps I would be better suited for "a gardener." This was in response to my 5th request to please have someone call me the day before they show up, so that I can take my dogs elsewhere and not have them running through the chemicals. The gentleman that actually comes out to manage my lawn is always very nice and friendly. He seems to know what he his doing and is respectful. The women in the office are an entirely different story.

Same. Good workers that come out but terrible customer service. If they can't follow the chart they are given in the book for customer service then they get upset.

Unresponsive to calls after performing the wrong service.

I hired Tru green to treat some of my palm trees for white fly infestation. They did a different treament and did not treat the white fly.

I called and called and each time was told that they would get back to me. I then asked for the manager, and left multiple urgent messages for him. Still no response. Today I called corporate to report the problem.

They said i would be called back. i am waiting to see.

In the meantime I will not use them again and would not recommend them. if ther is any problem, yu are on your own.

That is exactly their game. That is also why they sell, sell, sell.

Because for every customer that cancels, they want at least two to replace them. It's less burden on the company to have a sales rep make a sale or two than to have a production manager deal with an existing customer. If they can hand you some BS over the phone and have you stick around, great. If not, "oh, well".

It is a company culture handed down from the very top. Most branches don't want to operate in this manner, but they are forced to by the unwritten TruGreen standard passed down from corporate management.

Guest

I fully agree with the comment above. I had similar experience in Illinois.

The technician came at least 2 times and did not recognize grub problem. When I finally called and asked them to assess the condition of my extremely dry lawn, the note that I do have grub was never delivered back to me. Now my lawn is ruined and it is going to cost me hundreds of $$ to restore it. Don't get your hopes up on corporate either.

They are not responsive at all. I have been calling them for weeks with

no response. They are quick to take your money, but the minute something goes wrong you are on your own.

Terrible service in case of an issue. Find another lawn service, and stay far away from them.

I also agree with the above comment, I had to leave the company recently because, besides from coming across very angry customers on a daily basis all I would hear on every meeting, is sell, sell, sell people, two sales a week keeps your job!!!! I'm a tech, not a sales man!!!!. Too much pressure to handle and give customers good quality service.

TruGreen Lies and Collection Services

TruGreen showed up on a Saturday morning and knocked on my door to tell me they wanted to provide a service I had not requested. i was awakend from a deep sleep, having arrived home from a trip about three hours before they showed up.

They wanted to do the service, but as I looked out, I could seee rain headed our way. The person said "don't worry, if it rains we will come back - NO CHARGE. He LIED, and when I called I got ne responce. When I got the bill, I called again, no responce.

When I got a call from the inhouse collection people (in the fall, after the season) they ask if I would like the service reapplied. Since the season was over, I said NO. Then I got a collection notice.

I called, again they said no problem, we will fix it. Tonight I got a call from a third part collection agency (almost a year later), saying I owed them money.

DO NOT DEAL WIT TRUGREEN My experience has been filled with being mislead and lied to!

I guess I am not the only one having issues with TruGreen. I did not even want the service.

they called me multiple time offered me 2 months free and 30$ per treatment after that. I told them I cannot afford anything more that 30 per treatment and the sales guy promised they wont charge more than 30$ per treatment and he will send the terms in email. so they sent sales confirmation email but missed to include the terms; I called them up and they said dont worry lets get start on free treatments as they are free of charge. they did free treatments however the free treatments they kept sending bill for 60$ per treatment and called me for payment.

I have told them that I am supposed to get 30$ per treatment but not 60$.

they said it it cost 60 per treatment and sent to collections. I am not going to pay a penny for a service that i never needed!

I cancelled both TruGreen's, (more like "TruGet-a-Clue"), lawn & tree services due to their unreliable services. Since they are really pushing their Automated Credit Card Payment plan, I find that they won't stop servicing my property.

I call their office and a rude office girl tells me that I never cancelled; basically accusing me of lying! I had a block for their billing put on my credit card, so now they have the nerve to mail me a printed bill!

This whole outfit is a joke. Don't even deal with TruGreen, which is part of ServiceMASTER, (more like "ServiceDISASTER"). Which is one of the leading "pay-per-lead" contractor scams out there.

A billion dollar business at that! Just Google the term "feather merchant" and this will give you an idea of the caliber of their employees!

As far as TruGreen's Easy automated credit card withdrawls. It just makes it harder to cancel their service or get any refunds credited back to your card!

Guest

Today I received a "Past Due" NOTICE for treatment (rather MIStreatment) that I was told 6 weeks ago was to be free. This was due to the fact that TruGreen has basically killed our once beautiful yard.

When I received the first $170 bill for my "free service", I sent the bill back with a copy of the email that the local manager had sent me informing me of my "free" treatment. This was his promise to me in order to make it right, and keep me from canceling.

Of course, I now realize that TruGreen is totally devoid of anything even remotely ethical or honest about the way they do business. It's supposed to be all about building trust with the customer, and TruGreen in unwilling/unable to do that! I am now alerting the media and turning this situation over to our local TV news station, Channel 7 "On Your Side", as an investigative report.

So that these TruGREED crooks will get the TRU publicity that they deserve! :grin

What's the difference between Trugreen and the carnival? The carnival leaves town once everyone is on to them!

:p

What does TruGreen have in common with Gypsies?

They're both beggars, thieves & cheats! :p

Guest

TruGreed is well known for pulling this type of slimey *** Treating yards in heavy rain/wind, knowing that the application will be ineffective. Taking it upon themselves to add-on additional services that cumtomers never OK'd.

Offering free apps just to appease an angry customer, and then billing them anyway. Customers calling their office to get these problems resolved, only to have them continue.

Sending people to collections for refusing to pay for treatments that they didn't want, or that were still done anyway, even AFTER the customer cancelled. Apply worthless treatments after the season is over.

Truegreen, OK to really bad...

It is a pity as I have used them since moving to Houston 6 years ago. At first really good responsive service for my lawn and shrubs, then about 2 years ago just OK service. Nevertheless, I kept them until this year. Now they will not return phone calls timely do not come when they say they will and do as little as possible to make your lawn or shrubs look OK. I just spent $5,500 to replace lawn and shrubs after drouth, not their fault, but the weeds were out of control. It is time for a change to a smaller more responsive company. Problems as this usually filter down from the top and so I fault the upper management likely trying to save money at the consumer level and hoping that they will not notice. I am patient and I notice. Goodby to Truegreen.

ServiceMaster's TruGreen is a behemoth of a lawn "care" company that insults the intelligence of their customers by attempting to disguise a cost/rate increase under the ruse "To serve you better...", And then with the higher price their service still sucks! Sandbaggers indeed!!!!

PI$$ED, just so you know, that will not cancel your service. They will probably see it, continue service, and bill you normally.

You will call to complain, they will deny it, and you will owe for that service and be sent to collections if you don't pay. You must call, get a name, location, and a cancellation number (they are made up, but hopefully they log it under notes in the computer). They are as crooked as it gets, so don't expect to be done with them in one shot. Also ask to be put on their Do Not Call list.

You may still get calls, as sometimes they decide they don't want to hear you, but keep doing it. Once you're done, continue to blast them on sites like these and others.

They are a slimy company and will fall as a result. Good luck.

TruGreen Lawn Service

I decided to try a lawn service for 2012 and called TruGreen. I told them I was just compairing prices for now.

After hanging up I got another call the same day where I told them I would called them if/when I decided. I have since received 9 other calls trying to sign me. One call actually came at 9:30 on Sunday, Mother's Day morning.

I was pissed, also about the second call on Mother's Day that afternoon. If you call TruGreen order them not to call you back, I probably won't help, it didn't with me!

Anything is possible when it comes to TruGreen's aggressive telemarketing tactics. It was probably one of their renegade salesmen "freelancing" by making calls on his own time from his own cell phone. TruGreen salesmen will resort to this tactic all the time to get around phone number blocking.

Guest

Agree...very aggressive marketing. Got around my phone blocking attempts and now also continue to send snail mail. Constantly up-selling me after service calls over one season..good for my lawn, maybe, but will not use again because of their relentless business practices.

Guest

Speaking as a former TruGreen office worker [CSR]; here are the steps that all of you NEED to take to get TruGreen to stop calling you for good. First, you MUST specifically make a DO NOT CALL Request.

By making this request the employee MUST fill out a DNC CONFIRMATION Form stating that he/she went into the computer and put a "no solicit" on your phone number. And then went into the dialer and took your phone number out of the sales campaigns.

After this process is complete, your DNC Request must be filed in the "Do Not Call" File and kept for 2 years. You can also request a copy of the company's Do Not Call Policy to further assure that TruGreen complys with your DNC request.

TruGreen will lie to you, and you'll never get rid of them

Don't use their "free" 1-time application. I asked for this, and explained that I didn't want anything recurring. The guy tried to mark it as recurring anyway. Then he transferred me to someone else, who talked for about 10 minutes, and mentioned in passing that my next appointment would be automatically renewed. I explained AGAIN that I didn't want anything recurring. Fast-forward 6 months, and I got a call telling me that they'd be at my house the next day for my scheduled appointment. They had marked me as a "renewing" customer anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if I get another call in another 6 months. I would never, never recommend dealing with these leeches.

As a matter of general information, consumers should be aware that many lawn service companies use a "negative option agreement". This means that service continues until the lawn company is notified that the customer wishes to cancel.

In short, this simply means that once you sign on with them, you have a PERPETUAL SERVICE AGREEMENT. This procedure is standard business for almost all of the large lawn care and pest control companies.

Guest

Last spring I was looking for a lawncare service and decided to go with TruGreen. Their representative was very friendly and I was able to negotiate a fair deal for the yard, plus a few extra *** treatments.

And even a free lime treatment. For the first few months things went great, then things went downhill. The problems started one night when TruGreen called me. A "courtesy call" is what the gentleman referred to it as.

He then asks me if I want a lime treatment. Saying that this service was not on my account. So it wasn't really a call to make sure I was satisfied...It was a sales call. :?

And he wants to SELL me a lime treatment. In an effort to get clarification, I then asked for our original rep that I had signed-on with, and was told he no longer worked there. So I tell this guy about the free lime treatment, and of course he says he doesn't know anything about that. He does ask if I would still like it.

I say yes. And he says "Great, That'll by $49.00". I reiterate that I was supposed to get it for free. He tells me again that he doesn't know anything about that, and if I would still like it, then I will have to pay $49.00.

I firmly reiterate yet again that the original agreement when I signed on with Trugreen was to have the lime treatment done at no charge. I end the phone call and ask to have the manager call me back. (I was a retail store manager for several years, and I learned a lot there about customer service. One of the rules I learned was to never insult the customer or inply that the customer had made a mistake.) Later the TruGreen manager called and apologized for the confusion, that they had left me with the impression that they had promised me something.

I told him that they did, a FREE lime treatment. Then the manager tells me that he can't just give somebody a free tratment just because they want one! And then in a nice way he essentially told me that I'm a *** liar. This whole approach, (unbelivable as it is), is a sure fire way to lose a customer.

At this point I said I neeeded him to either give me the lime treatment at no charge, as was promised when I signed on, or cancel my account immediately! And of course he never cancelled my account. Those bastards still snuck in one more treatment, so I had to call corporate to cancel. And getting corporate's REAL phone number 901/597-**** is no simple task.

As their toll-free numbers actually rings to a nationwide call center, or goes full circle to the local office. And I didn't trust them anymore. In the end I cancelled. Fast forward to now.

TruGreen still calls me. Their method of operation is to apoligize and to offer a FREE treatment (ironic!?!?). I say "NO" and then they act coy and play dumb, saying that they don't understand why I'm not on board with them. Well...."No means No", pal.

They came around just recently and hung flyers on the doors in my neighborhood.

The flyer said, "Under New Management" in bold print. My email marco@***y-engineer.com

All these complaints are a joke

I've had trugreen for 15 years and funny not one of these bs excuses I'm hearing has ever happened to me or my 10 neighbors on service on my street. Hmmm it's sad to hear people point the blame elsewhere is somewhat comical! They burned my lawn up lol no they applied the product that you idiots didn't water in!!! Weeds don't go away btw for all you smart people they do *** control not killing!! To all the negative complainers just do it yourself and destroy your own lawn instead of blaming someone else. They've been in business for 40 years but they don't know what thr doing lol yea ok.

I have been with TruGreen for some time and in the middle of last year, I knew there was a problem.

The tech servicing my yard would spray the back of my truck and the hauling trailer, leave 3 ft marks on both sodes of my 150 ft driveway, but practically ran through my yard. I complained and they supposedly took care of issue, but didn't.

This winter, I had moles all over the fron yard, meaning, the lawn did not get sprayed for grubbs, after I paid for the service.

My wife (without my knowledge) called to re-up for (1) year and when they were supposed to show up, nothing. When I called them, they said someone internally cancelled the appointment and then it was determined we did "not" pay in advance> What the ***!!!

I stayed on them to see what is going on and called the corporate office twice in (3) weeks and I have been promised calls, but nothing.

I am intent on getting my pound of flesh and will continue to call them every few days till I am satisfied. If more of you continued this type of efforts, we can cost Tru-Green more money and maybe they would understand or point then.

Guest

I don't think almost 300 complaints is a joke. Perhaps since you don't use a name you work for the company.

Guest

We have called several times , no response. Last year they sprayed our brand new sod and it dies from over processing !

No one signed up for the service in my home and we have been calling and calling no answer!!! Now the spring has sprung and our grass is the only brown one on the street .

Guest

yes they can burn lawn that is what happens when the mixed fertilizer sits for too long in the tanks in high temps. This heat changes the compounds in the mixture making them toxic to grass, burning them.

Trugreen... a true disappointment.

After one year paying around $118.00 a month, at first Trugreen eliminated the only problem we use to have in our garden which was a small black bug eating the leaves of the Ficus shrubs... It worked fantastically. Then, we started having brown spots in the lawn and reported it to Trugreen, they came and finished with some weeds but the brown spots were growing. We reported the problem one, two, three times and they starting applying (and charging, of course) their treatments every month instead of the every 5 weeks term they promised at first. Nothing happened and we let pass 6 months, then 9 months. When we first call to cancell the service they were kind enough to offer a one-time-free service as an apology so we can think about keeping the service running. We did it and not only nothing good happened, instead our lawn was everytime worst -even worst than my neighbor's that barely pour water to his lawn and never use any kind of chemical to treat anything (probably a lesson one need to learn). We told them we needed to see results in the short time or we would really cancel the service. 3 months more passed and there wasn't any improvement in our lawn and the Ficus started to loose leaves in some areas (whoch we already reported several times before as well). One year after that we call and definetively canceled the service. They did one more attempt to service our lawn which we only could stop asking the guard in our gated community to thank the technician and notify him our service was canceled and deny him the access. After only 2 weeks of the cancelation (5 weeks after the last service) I found in our house's entrance a plastic bag containig a kind "free analysis" made by Trugreen Area Manager, in which he listed a total of 7 different problems/plagues in our shrubs and lawn... The first words it came to my mind were: "is that this people doesn't have any shame?". Of course there must be lots of problems in our garden, due to their defficient service and products!!! Does that area manager didn't know they were servicing our property without any success just a few weeks before? Besides, if he did such a specific analysis, he was INSIDE MY PROPERTY WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION and that is not right. Now three things are clear for me regarding Trugreen: 1) I will NEVER hire their services again; 2) I would NEVER recommend their services to anyone to ask me about; 3) They most have the worst logistics and marketing strategies (as many U.S. based companies). Nowadays I will only pay for the services of eficcient companies/people... Perhaps it wasn't that much 118 a month, but if you multiply that amount for all the customers paying that monthly rent to receive NOTHING back is not fear, and those kind of companies must re-orient their purposes of servicing or simply disappear and let the way free to those which want to offer and do an honest work and be paid for it.

Trugreen is more than dissapointing! We allowed them to service our yard and with every treatment our yard looked worse. We contacted them over and over about the weeds that were begining to come up in our yard. Something, that was not a problem when we were treating it ourselves. After a particularly unpleasant discussion with the area manager, our yard was

"treated" one last time! The result was a patch of completetly dead grass about 70 inches in diamater. A look at the security tapes delivered the truth. One man standing in one place spraying in a circle around himself. When I called (because my husband was so angry he couldn't) to cancel the service, they wanted to have a manager come out and talk with us. Thinking that this was just a bad employee, we said yes. The manager didn't show up for the appointment - not once but twice. After that, I most certainly canceled the service. The only reason we did not bring a suit against them is that we didn't want to waist our time and money on the likes of Trugreen!

No only would I not recommend Truegreen. I make it a point of telling anyone who has a care about their yard to not go near them.

Our problem now, we cant get the D.A.s to take us off their mailing and calling lists. i have tried everything from writing them letters to threatening them everytime they call. I have finely blocked their number. . . Lord, save us from Trugreen!

Do NOT hire this company! I paid for one year service under any conditions. My lawn was in the worst condition ever while I paid them to care for it. after I told them to stay off my lawn they returned the following year while I was not home sprayed and sent me a bill. They were totally unwilling to resolve the matter for me. Since hiring a different service my lawn has returned to perfect. I ended up with patches of dead grass while they treated it, for which they refused to accept any responsibility and also have a neighbor with a similar experience with them.

This company is a farce and a scam. I have had the lawn service for two years and my lawn is FULL of weeds.

They must be spraying it with water. When I called the company, the representatives were rude and unaccommodating. The representative had the audacity to tell me that I had to reactivate my service before they could do anything to correct the lawn. Are you kidding me?

Why would I continue to pay for nothing.

This company should be put out of business and required to refund all of its clients's money. DO NOT USE THEM!!!

The above comment by a Trugreen manager is a perfect example of their tactics. They even have the audacity to try it on here....lol

It's "TRU" that the Techs are under constant pressure by management to hit a high daily $$$ number. And management knows that they have to half-*** their work to hit this number.

Constant pressure is put on the Techs to hit a high $$$ number with the looming threat of being written-up or fired! Which makes it even more likely that you will have an inexperienced new guy treating your yard due to high employee turnover. This is usually the root cause behind customers complaining about lousey service & *** looking lawns! Worst case senario is when some Techs "ghost" lawns, which is just leaving a service sheet on the door without even treating the property!!!

:?

:roll :? :roll

Guest

With as little money as the techs get paid and working under fear of being fired all the time, you'll be lucky if they even treated the yard in the first place. Much less a service call.

If you sign back up, don't assume it will get any better. Lawn could improve if you're doing the right things and the lawn actually gets treated, but customer service will always suck.

Guest

You need to work to resolve your problems with TruGreen BEFORE you cancel all services. Once you cancel, TruGreen will NOT come out and work on your lawn. You MUST be an ACTIVE customer to get service calls.

Tru Green Lawn killed my grass

I contracted Tru Green lawn care to come out an fertilize my lawn with a late Spring application. My lawn had gorgeous green grass and within 2 days of their application my grass is 50% "DEAD". I hired the company from a proactive stance to ensure that my grass was getting the nutrients needed going into Summer and not because anything visually would say that the lawn needed any additional care. Now, my lawn looks absolutely horrible and I am very upset with this firm. I encourage others considering Tru Green to do your homework and supervise the technician closely.

After that I withheld payment. My results after 2 seasons of TG service can be viewed on www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8XMbx7cQ-V

We have tried to stick with Trugreen for 2 years now. They accidently sprayed the wrong liquid in 90+ temps [their excuse] on our very nice turf, (which took about $200 worth of watering for 3 months), and totally burned it up.

Their Service Manager who came out, finally after 3 weeks of phone calls, said that he would personally follow-up in 2 weeks. Well....7 weeks later and at least 9 phone calls, he has still not shown up, nor returned my calls!

Trugreen will say anything to keep getting your money. We signed up for their credit card auto payments, which was a huge mistake. The bottom line is that we have spent a ton of money with them, and our lawn looks worse than it did before their service.

TruGreen is a tru dissapointment. I advise anyone who is considering useing this company to think twice. I have neighbors that were envious for about 2 weeks that the lawn looked nice. But after that "honeymoon period" there will be no one in our neighborhood going with Trugreen.

In an attenpt to make things right with me, they promised a free aeration & seeding this fall. But since they have not delivered services of any kind since that promise, I am not sure that it is ever going to happen.

Everytime I call the local or national office, I get put on hold, transferred, then told that a Manager will get right back to me that same day. But it never happens!!

Misrepresented service

We have a contract with another lawn care company who came out a couple of weeks ago for the 1st treatment this year. Today, we got a call from Tru Green telling us they would be spraying our lawn on Thursday. My husband got into an argument with the caller telling them we don't use their service. They got a superisor on the phone who told us they bought the company we use, would be out on Thursday as scheduled and we would be billed subsequently. My husband told them we had already paid for service with the other company and would not pay anything extra for service he did not request. They kept him on the phone for at least 15 minutes trying to bully him into accepting the 'scheduled' service. Finally he hung up. He called the service we use which has a similar name and which we are very happy with who said, none of what Tru Green said was 'true'. They had not bought their business and they confirmed all the details of our contract. I think this is one of the worst examples of a deceptive buseinss practice I've seen.

Trugreen are liars. I used them last year.

They over charged me. So I had to wait for a credit. I never received a contract. This year they tried to over charge me again.

I told them that I do not want to do business with them. The guy tried to bully me and said I had a contract. I told him then someone at Trugreen signed my name. fax me the contract with my name and I will have my attorney look at it.

He hung up. Also according to their commercial they say they will come to your house to evaluate your lawn. When I asked about this, I was told by Trugreen that they can look at my lawn on google earth.

Do not use Trugreen. They lie.

My lawn looked better before Trugreen's service. I made several calls which were totally ignored.

After that I withheld payment. The results after 2 seasons of TG service can be seen on www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8XMbx7cQ-V
