I signed up with TruGreen in April, 2014. My yard wasn't too bad, several weeds, mostly cover and crabgrass.

I was promised by summer my yard would be beautiful. I live in Freehold, NJ and was serviced by their local representative. Immediately the grass turned brown, but I was told it was to be expected. However, discrepancies immediately began.

The grass became more brown, and patches of dirt began appearing all over my lawn. TruGreen headquarters told me that they would aerate and replant grass seed, that this was in my contract. The local *** told me I had to plant the grass seed and if I wanted him to aerate, it would cost me an extra $300, and that no matter who aerated the ground, I still needed to plant the grass seed myself. He wouldn't even advise me as to which type of seed I needed to buy.

I called headquarters again, and they said that they were going to plant the grass seed. I told them what the local *** said, and they told me that my contract was they were to provide the aeration and plant the grass seed. Meanwhile, my lawn is gone, and now I have about 70% dirt, in a beautiful residential neighborhood. TruGreen wanted to come out again, and spray more "***-killer" however, the weeds, and grass are gone.

When I asked to cancel my contract, corporate headquarters begged me to stay on, and said the "manager" would contact me shortly to fix everything.

2 days later, I had a message on my answering machine from the local ***, telling me he was going to come out and spray more "***-killer." I cancelled my contract and asked for a refund of monies paid, and was told "no." If you live in Monmouth County, NJ, please do not use TruGreen!

Monetary Loss: $500.
