Letter of Complaint

I would like to start this letter by saying that I am a 41 one-year-old man with a wife and two children. I work a full time job as a public servant and take great pride in the things that I own. In my 41 years I have very, very rarely filed a complaint letter against any person or business.

Approximately 2 ½ years ago I enrolled in a contract with Tru-Green to maintain my lawn. The contract stated that Tru-Green would complete six lawn treatments per year and would return to my house if I had a complaint with my lawn for example weeds/crabgrass ect. I continued my contract the following year as well. On 04/14/2015, I again renewed my contract with Tru-Green at a sum of $931.38. ( I paid the entire contract up front for the year 2015). As of July 20, 2015, Tru-Green has applied three treatments. After the third treatment my lawn went from being lush and green to nearly brown in many spots. The lawn was over taken by a *** called Nutsedge. On 08/13/2015, I called Tru-Green and requested a technician return to my property and treat the Nutsedge. I was told a technician would be at my home on Monday, August 17 to evaluate and treat my lawn. The technician never showed up until Wednesday the 19th around 4 pm. He told me that he did not have the product to treat the Nutsedge but would return Friday the 21st to treat it. I asked the technician what he thought of my Nutsedge problem and he stated words to the effect of, "Its real bad". On Friday the 21st, Tru-Green did not show up. I called the customer care line and expressed my frustration. They told me they would have the tech call me and that a supervisor would also contact me. The tech did call me back stating that it was almost the end of his day and he was to far away to come to my home but he would put in a work order for Monday the 24th. A supervisor never called me. On Monday the 24th, at approximately 9:30 am, I called customer care to confirm that a tech. was coming. I was told no because there was no work order. I explained my problem with the Nutsedge and that I have been trying to get a tech since 08/13/2015. I requested to speak to a supervisor but was denied. I then requested a cancellation of my account with a full refund of $931.38 because the service I paid for was not performed to standard and that the contract was possibly violated since they did not come to my home and treat the Nutsedge within a reasonable amount of time. He rudely said he would NOT do that then tried to end the call. I asked him to hold on as I had questions about my refund. The customer service rep, "Eric", terminated the call.

I am very upset and confused. I now have a lawn that was once beautiful and the subject of many compliments of my neighbors that is now brown and dying and infested with weeds. I do not know where I stand with my refund, I do not know if a Tru-Green supervisor will call me and I don’t know how to fix my lawn. I wish to file an official complaint against Tru-Green and request a refund of $931.38. I also request a phone call from a supervisor of Tru-Green so that I can get an explanation of why my contract was not upheld.
